Great Find!

I found this Chippendale settee in a window at a resale shop downtown. I called to inquire about the price and found it was almost $400. Yesterday I went in and made a lower offer and it was accepted. I am going to reupholster the seat and put in our bedroom. I know I said no more house posts because of the wedding, but the moment I started focusing on the wedding I found a lot of great deals.

Brunch at Bistro 462

My parents gave Nick and I this Jack-and-Jill Adirondack set for a shower gift. We added the umbrella from the back yard and now we have Bistro 462. This morning we sat outside with our Starbucks and magazines and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Tonight Bistro 462 is serving sandwiches and margaritas.

Top Design at Half Price

This weekend I got both Kelly Wearstler and Jonathan Alder’s books at Half Price Books to add to my decorating library. I have had both on my wish list for a long time, but always feel guilty spending $40 on a book. Next book on my list is In the Pink and I count down the days until The L.A. House from Ruthie Sommers is released.

The Final Countdown

Less than one month away from the big day! We are focusing on all the last minute tasks and taking a break from renovating the house, so there will not be very many posts until after the honeymoon. I will need to take a few breaks from favors and programs to post some inspirational rooms, but nothing on our house till end of May. Wish us luck!

New Neighbors

We got new neighbors over the weekend. We have not met them yet, but hopefully they are nice and don’t have too many wild parties. If they decided to put in an ugly jungle gym or hot tub we could always install a great privacy fence like this one. I would much rather look at this all day.

Finished... YEAH!

The last towel bar has been hung and the laundry room slash half bath is finished. If we did not have photos of how it used to look with the green appliances, sink and window treatments, I don’t think the finished room would look as good. My favorite part is having the pedestal sink. It makes the room look so much larger. Thanks to Nick and my dad for all their work. Finally a room I am not embarrassed to show people.

In the home stretch

The baseboards are painted and the washer and dryer have moved back in. Now we need to install the sink. We got a nice pedestal sink from Lowe’s and needed to find a faucet. Since the bathroom is also the laundry room, we wanted something with a high neck incase we needed to fill a bucket or basin. We had no luck at Home Depot or Lowe’s so tonight we went to The Great Indoors. We found an Italian faucet on clearance. It looks really similar to this Kohler model, but the handles are much lower. We are going to attempt to install it tomorrow since it involves threading glue and European instructions, which is not a good combination if you are tired. Hopefully this weekend I can post a finished room!

I want it.

While making my weekly visit to Anthropologie this weekend, I noticed this in the window of Z Gallery across the street. I WANT IT. It is the perfect outdoor tent and for just under $400 not completely unreasonable. Add yellow pillows and my vintage butterfly chairs and it's the perfect summer resting spot.

Started another project.

Technically we started the laundry room a while ago, but the room is once again in limbo. We installed a laminate floor that looks like slate tile over the weekend with the help of my dad. It looks really good, much better than the photo shows. Next we need in install the baseboards, paint the walls, install a new sink and toilet and bring back in the washer and dryer. Hopefully we will not drag this project on for weeks because I will need clean clothes soon. I hope we can finish it this weekend and have the finish project to post on Sunday.

The perfect photo wall.

This is the best photo wall I have come across. It belongs to Darcy Miller, the editor of Martha Stewart Weddings. She uses the full wall to lean photos from her wedding on shelves and the floor. I bought similar shelves to repeat the effect in our house, but cannot find the best place to install. I guess that is my problem with a lot of my purchases, I fall in love but have no clue where to put it. Hopefully when our wedding photos come back I will have found the perfect location for our photo wall.
